Tips on interview
Some of these points are very basic, but please believe us they are extremely important and can make the difference between falling at the first hurdle and gaining a 2nd interview.
First impressions are very important. You never get a second chance so give it your best shot!!
Try and be at least 10-15minutes early (shows you are punctual and interested)
Immaculate presentation. (An awful lot of people fail on this) . Make sure you are as well presented as you can be Please wear a suit and tie, make sure your shirt and tie is sensible ie. White or Blue.
Smile (remember first impressions) the client want's to see a candidate who is pleasant, happy and confident.
Make your handshake before and after the interview firm and confident.
Eye contact is important. Don't look at the floor/ceiling or outside the window(It appears you are not interested). This is a strong communication skill.
When speaking on interview your telephone manner will be observed. Speak clearly and concisely. (This indicates that you are able to communicate at all levels)
Never under any circumstances criticise previous employers for whatever reason. (They don't like it, it's negative and creates a bad impression)
At all times act professional and be enthusiastic (it's all about creating a good positive impression)
Never orientate your interview around money. (We will advise you what the salary is. The benefits can be asked at the end of the interview if not mentioned by the interviewer first)
Always ask questions at the end of the interview(To show that you are interested in the vacancy and company).
Standard questions asked are:
1.How long have you been established?
2.How many people are currently employed here?
3.Will I be working in a team and if so how many?
Try to anticipate certain questions such as:
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Why do you want to work for us?
What skills and ideas can you bring to this position?
Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years time?
What do you know about the company?
What motivates you?
What skills have you acquired that are appropriate to this vacancy?
CREATE A GOOD IMPRESSION, BE POSITIVE AT ALL TIMES. CREATE A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOU AND THE INTERVIEWER for example Try to broaden your answers and not reply with a simple yes or no.
GOOD LUCK !!
